During a working visit to Cuba, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Titov held talks with Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Telse Abdel Gonzalez Morera. The parties discussed issues of mutual trade in food and fertilizers, as well as the creation of joint investment projects in the agro-industrial sector.
As Maxim Titov noted, there is currently a positive trend in the turnover of agricultural products between the countries. In particular, in 2024, the volume of mutual trade increased by 13.4% compared to the previous year, while the export of domestic products in value terms increased by 20.1%. Among the main products exported from Russia are wheat and vegetable oils.
Russia and Cuba also continue to interact in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary supervision. The Republic has accredited the system of state veterinary supervision of the Russian Federation for poultry, pork, beef, and dairy products. Cooperation continues on the issue of exporting diagnostic tools and veterinary drugs to Cuba, as well as the introduction of electronic certification of controlled livestock products and the integration of information systems.
In addition, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere. Maxim Titov expressed confidence in the further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, including within the framework of the mechanism of the Working Group on Russian-Cuban Cooperation in Agriculture.
